African of the year!

I wonder how the criteria to select a person to be African of the year works...do they look at extraordinary things one does for Africa or what is the deal!

I think though for Former President it has been his prominance in Africa and his work with regards to mediation in the Sudan crises!
I wouldnt mind getting that award in my life time...great one Chief Mbeki!
